I have a fever!!

Spring fever that is. I am so ready for spring. I, Ms. Brown thumb, have been looking through the gardeners catalog that we got. I am ready to plant our flowers. I got the patio all cleaned off and had my afternoon coke out there this afternoon. It is still a bit cool, but it was so relaxing. Hopefully, this weekend, I can get out and pull the dead morning glory vines out. The azalea bush is in full bloom along with a really pretty purple flower. (no clue what the name of it is) If any of you want to volunteer to come garden, I will gladly let you. I might even pop open a bottle of wine.

Work was not fun today. I don't mind deadlines when I am the one driving the deadline train. But when you have to wait on other people, who don't seem to understand the meaning of the word deadline, it makes for a very stressful, difficult day.

I Confess

It is time for a public confession. I am addicted. I thought I was over this addiction and then it hits me last night that I am re-addicted. I had it so bad last year, I went to Quiznos to eat a Trace Sandwich!

I am a Celebrity Apprentice junkie.

OK, you can stop snickering.

It's true. I have the DVR set so I don't have to stay up so late on Sunday night, but there I am in front of the TV. Enjoying each and every moment of it. Dennis deserved to be fired much earlier. Bring Scott Hamilton back. Let's get rid of Joan!

Anybody want to set up a watch party for the final 2? My money is on Annie to be the big winner.

BTW .. Trace got robbed last year.

Blizzard

I am such a good girl. I listened, faithfully, to the weather reports yesterday. Yes, Gary said we were going to have a blizzard. Mike said we were going to have a blizzard, Rick said it would be a blizzard. I stopped and got dog food, came home and prepared to be snowed in. Bob was laughing at me the whole time. We got up this morning and guess what? NO Blizzard. There was only a dusting of snow. Heck, the newspaper didn't even have snow on it. Granted, during the day, there were snow flurries, and there was snow on the ground, but you could still see the grass poking thru. Do these guys have weather degrees from a university or do they have broken crystal balls? Why am I so gullible? I think they could sell me snake oil.

I worked on the family tree most of the day. Got a lot entered. I am still hunting for someone famous or rich, but, so far, no luck.

Since we were not snowed in, we went out to dinner with friends tonight. We went to the new Chinese Buffet with Jeff and Denise. It was good, but I ate too much. I tried to be good and stay with WW friendly food, but I wanted to try some of that and some of that and the next thing I knew was I was over full. We came back to our house, had tea and hot chocolate and I popped some frozen cookie dough in the oven. We laughed and talked and had a great time. It has been a while since we have been with them and it was fun.

Tomorrow is grocery shopping and laundry day. What fun.

Easter

Last week, during Spring Break, I crawled up in the attic and got down the Easter decorations. I got the front yard all decorated with the giant eggs, the bunny flag and the bunny stuffed yard art things. I think it turned out pretty good. The picture is pretty good, but you don't get to see the flag. Sorry. Yesterday, I had a little girl trying to pick up some of the big eggs. She and her brother were selling Worlds Finest Chocolate bars. Yes, I bought one and then gave it to them. I bet their mom was thrilled with me.

I am so thankful that today is over. I had 14 boxes delivered at work yesterday. Today I "got" to unpack, count, pay for and then store all 14 boxes. I wore jeans and a sweat shirt. The jeans were a brilliant idea, but I nearly had heat stroke in the sweat shirt. Today, of all days, the heat was working in my office. Yesterday, I lost a necklace at work and today I lost an earring. Hopefully, I can keep all of my belongings on my person tomorrow.

Today is National Kick Butt day. Try to get someone you love to NOT smoke, if only for one day.

Let's Celebrate!!

Well, it appears that I have too much free time on my hands today. Bob is working on his computer and I have been working on the family tree. My eyes became crossed as I was reading old obituaries and I began playing on the computer. I think this is a holiday that we should all celebrate. I have already begun!

National Goof Off Day

When : Always March 22nd

Now here's a day that just about everybody can relax and enjoy. It's a day to do anything and everything.....except what you're supposed to do today.

Assuming you won't get in trouble at work or school, go ahead and play some golf, or play video games all day. Spend extra time surfing the net. Go out and spend the day window shopping with your favorite friend. Or, just read sit down and read a book or watch Tv. This day is set aside for you to do anything you enjoy doing.

A few years ago, a survey was performed to identify the most popular activity for goofing off. The top activity was playing video games. Who conducted the survey? Ninetendo.......no surprise. It kinda makes you wonder just who might have had the brainstorm to create this day......hmmmm.

Origin of National Goof Off Day:

The origin of this day is unknown. We do suspect it was created by some hard working individual who finally got fed up of always doing what he( or she) was supposed to do. Most likely, they finally lost it, and took a day to just goof off. How do we know it wasn't created by someone who is always goofing off?

My Cooking Expertise

Yesterday was an interesting day. I slept in and then began doing odds and ends. I spent a good portion of the day working on our family tree, and then discovered a "Norathon" on Lifetime TV. Bob stopped by Papa Murphy's and brought home 2 take and bake pizzas. For those of you who have not tried this place, you really need to. You tell them the ingredients that you want and they prepare the pizza using all fresh stuff. All you have to do is bring the pizza home and stick it in the oven. How hard can that be? Well, for my wonderful kitchen skills, this was too much. I slid the pizzas in the pre-heated oven and went back to the basketball game. I promise I was watching the clock. I went back into the kitchen to discover smoke billowing out of the oven. I yanked open the door and the kitchen was flooded with smoke. About the time that I was processing that the pizza's were "over done", the smoke alarm went off. Bob jumped up, did what ever to the alarm and waited for the alarm company to call him. He, very calmly, told them that his wife was cooking dinner. The pizza's weren't really burnt, we did eat them and they were good ... a bit crunchy ... but still good.
We finished our last bottle of Pop's soda. Jack Black Orange Stash. Tasted like old fashioned Orange soda. 2 chugs/we probably would buy it again.

Gotta go open some windows to air out the house. Burnt pizza is not the smell I want for the entire day.

Left overs

I am really happy with all that I have accomplished this week while off from "work". I am completely caught up with my "But First" list, I have entered a bunch of information into the family tree and Bob and I have had some fun.

We had the left overs from Lucille's tonight. I nuked everything and it turned out really good. All I had to do was fix a salad and I am not sure if we really needed the salad. Next time we go to Lucille's we will pass on the mushrooms, even though they were good. To quote Denise..."the salad (or in this case/mushroom) was totally unnecessary." There was enough food without it.

We also had 2 more of the Pop's Sodas. Here are those reviews:
1-Love Potion number 69. Believe me the bottle was NOT representative of the soda. The bottle is funny, but the soda was gross. -1 chug. We will not ever buy that again, unless as a gag gift to someone. We poured most of it down the drain.
2-Round Barn Root Beer. OK, how can you go wrong with Round Barn anything that close to Pop's. Apparently pretty easy. It was all right, but with all the options, why settle for all right?
1 chug, probably would not buy again. One more bottle to go.

Sadly, Spring break is over. It is time to get back to the real world.

Resturant Review

Bob and I ventured out to the big town of Mulhall, Oklahoma tonight to eat dinner at "Lucille's Restaurant". Lucille's is only open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We began our dinner with Fried Mushrooms. They were awesome. While we were enjoying those, the waitress brought out the biggest hot rolls in the world. The butter just melted over the roll. We both ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. I got mashed potatoes and fried okra while Bob got a baked potato and hush puppies. They brought out another basket of rolls, this time with hot cornbread. The Chicken Fry was huge, smothered in cream gravy. The Mashed potatoes were home made, with real potatoes, covered in gravy. Part way through the meal, the man we think is the manager, came by our table and said to save room for FREE, home made cobbler. I had the Cherry while Bob had the peach. We brought home 2 full take home containers and both are so full we can hardly move. The place is named for Lucille Mulhall, who was a terrific cowgirl. (Be sure to read the back of the menu for her full history.) The restaurant is housed in an old bank and you can go visit the vault and see where thieves cut through the ceiling to get inside the vault. This is definitely worth the trip. The food was wonderful, filling and not terribly expensive, the drive down Highway 77 was really cool. We will be making a return trip. Their web site is www.lucillesok.com.

But First/Soda Review

But first ... I have a huge list of "but firsts". You know what I am talking about? I will get to the filing ...but first I will do whatever. My problem is that I keep adding "but firsts" and never get to the original task. Today has been a "but first" clean up day. I have spent the entire day doing those stupid jobs that I have not gotten around to doing. The ones that I really don't want to do in the first place. The good news is that I have accomplished a whole lot, but the bad news is that there is still a lot on my list. Guess what I will be doing tomorrow? But first, I really need to play SuDoKo.

Soda Review. After carefully taste testing 3 of my 6 bottles of Pop's soda here are our recommendations for you.

1--Thomas Kemper Soda Company Root Beer. Pretty darn good. Needs a frosty mug with peanuts in the bottom to complete the whole taste. We give it 2 chugs and would buy it again.

2--Faygo Vanilla Creme. How can you go wrong with something clearly labeled "Made with 100% Cane sugar"? Good taste, but too sweet. Can you believe I said that? 1 chug, probably would not buy again.

3--Jeff's Vanilla Soda Egg Cream. OK, the soda was milky white and looked great. This goes to prove that looks can be deceiving. 0 chugs (we poured most of it down the drain). This soda will never darken our fridge again.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Hope you were wearing some green and avoided getting the dreaded pinch.

I have had an interesting day. I went to Linda's this morning so she could drive to Guthrie for the funeral. Yes, I got lost going to Edmond. I had to call Bob when I wound up on UCO campus. Good thing Linda knows me and chose to drive to Guthrie. With me driving, we might be in Canada at this moment. The funeral was nice (as far as funerals go). It was good to see some of the Camp Fire people from the past. After the service, Linda and I went to downtown Guthrie for lunch. "Granny Had One" is closed for remodeling, so we ate at Mom's Cafe. It was really good. It was so crowded that we ate at a table outside. The weather was perfect. Then we walked to a couple of the shops on the block. We have decided to go back on a Saturday when we have more time to wander around.

After we left there, we went to Pops in Arcadia. I went into soda overload. The end of the store is nothing but refrigerated cases full of different kinds of soda pop. It was terribly crowded, but I finally picked out 6 different sodas. Bob, guess what we are having for dinner? California Pizza and 6 bottles of soda. Gotta go back when I am mentally prepared for the eye-popping display of soda.

Did you notice that I learned how to put a graphic on the blog? Still haven't figured out photos or Twitter, but that is coming. Be on the lookout.

Hope you find the pot of gold tonight.

Welcome to my Seepage!

Welcome. With a lot of help from friends, luck and sheer determination ... I have begun my blog!
As the name suggests, my blog will contain a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I hope you enjoy and will check back often.

Spring Break has arrived. I am so glad! We went to Dallas this weekend. Bob was helping out with the Robot Competition that CHHS was in. CHHS did a GREAT job. They tied for 2nd. That was not good enough to advance to Atlanta, but considering that the program has only be going for 2 years, it was Awesome. After the competition, Bob took me to Sam Moon. More Earrings for me.

Sunday, we went to Allen, Texas. What is in Allen, Texas you ask? Outlet shopping. We had so much fun. We got some cool thing for Brodie. If you get a chance, stop by Allen. They have Coach, Nike, Perfume stores, Cosmetic stores, Croc shoes to name a few.

First day of Spring Break was dull. I had to get groceries and then do laundry. Tomorrow I have a funeral to attend. I hope the rest of the week will be relaxing.

When I figure out how, I will post the address to my FaceBook page. Next will be Twitter.

See you tomorrow.
Cindy
